Finally our rumours have been confirmed, as GMC teases a thousand horsepower fully electric vehicle, which will blow new life into the Hummer brand.
The in 2010 discontinued car brand Hummer will be utilized by GMC to boosts its EV hype. GMC hopes to profit from the history that is carried in the Hummer, instead of designing a completely new model.
Let’s take a look at one of the four teasers that Hummer put out on January 3rd 2020:
The teaser claims that Hummer is aiming for an electric vehicle that can produce an astounding 1 000 horsepower. As if that isn’t enough, the announcement also comes with the claim that the new electric car will truly be a ‘super truck’ with 15 000+ nm torque.
Whenever a new EV is released, it is almost impossible to not compare it to one of Tesla’s models. This is also the case for the first electric jump that GMC tries to make. How does this truck with a military history hold up against the Cybertruck that is set to release in 2021?
Even though GMC doesn’t share much about the Hummer, it is safe to assume that it will be a massive vehicle, just like the Cybertruck. The Cybertruck is supposed to be indestructible, with the shatterproof glass for example, and Hummer is known for it’s background in military applications. To predict which car will be more successful is impossible for now, but don’t forget that there have already been 200 000 people that made a deposit on the Cybertruck.
As can be seen in the teaser above, the fully electric Hummer has exciting acceleration stats, just like you could expect from a high end electric car. The car will go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3 seconds. We can’t wait to see how these promises will be kept and what this means for the automotive industry.
